Your new place has a pre-existing security system
Many times after you purchase a new house, you’ll notice that the previous owners left a home security system. All the components work, are installed in the best places, and are ready to go. In this example, all you may have to do is to call and start a new monitoring contract. A Vivint expert will still show up to make sure there are no integration issues, and they might offer suggestions on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a preliminary trip, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without worrying about any new devices -- unless you get some new devices.
The previous homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to your family for a one-time set-up cost to make your life simpler. If the owners are downsizing to a condo or smaller home, transferring the Vivint service might be a part of the sale.
You need to move and take your home security equipment with you
You may need to bring your existing home security components with you to your new home when you move. Luckily, it's fairly easy to transfer, as modern smart devices are wireless. You can take down each component yourself or call a professional installer to dismantle the system. Then an expert will put in the same features -- and any new items you need -- in your new home. And your home security contract will remain the same.
